Trinity Rep’s 2026 A Christmas Carol is its 50th-anniversary production: Dickens’ ghost story with Richard Cumming’s original score, directed and choreographed by Taavon Gamble. It plays the Dowling Theater at 201 Washington Street downtown, from November 5 to December 31.

The first performances, November 5 to 10, are previews; opening night is Wednesday, November 11. After that, most weeknights start at 7:30 PM, while weekends and much of the holiday week have two shows, at noon and 6 PM, with a handful of 2 or 2:30 PM matinees. There are no shows on Christmas Day or December 28.

A few nights are built for particular audiences: Noche Familia on November 13, with limited live captioning in Spanish; a sensory-friendly performance at noon on November 21; and open captioning December 16 to 20. Seats at the pay-what-you-wish and Noche Familia performances are limited and can sell out, so check Trinity Rep before planning a night around them.

It’s a family show, and the noon performances are the easy pick with younger kids. For dinner before a 6 or 7:30 curtain, Trinity is a short walk from the spots in our restaurants near PPAC guide; parking is in our parking guide, and every other holiday show is in the Christmas shows guide.
