The Fine Furnishings Show is a sale of American-made, handcrafted furniture, home accessories, decor and art, in its 31st year. It fills the WaterFire Arts Center, the former U.S. Rubber Company building at 475 Valley Street, on the weekend of November 7 and 8. Sunday’s hours are 10 AM to 4 PM.
Because the show is built around handmade pieces, it’s a good place to see joinery and finishes up close rather than in a showroom photo. It also shows work by furniture-making students from the Rhode Island School of Design and Boston’s North Bennet Street School, which is worth a look even if you’re not buying.
Admission is $10 at the door and parking at the Arts Center is free. The show’s page lists two different sets of Saturday hours, so check it before going on the 7th. It’s a few minutes’ drive from Federal Hill, if you want lunch on Atwells afterward (our Federal Hill guide), and the winter farmers market and Sunday’s Providence Flea are nearby at Farm Fresh RI, 10 Sims Avenue.
